    Scanning and Printer Support
    Epson L220 Printer Driver Download. Sooner or later, any photographer, whether he is an amateur or a professional, wants to see his photos printed on paper. We all know that photographic prints are perceived differently than viewing pictures on a monitor. But we are always stopped by the lack of time, the unwillingness to go to hand over the files to the photo lab, the high cost price of the print on the printer. It would seem that when there is a photo printer at home - it's so convenient, but often from its active use refuse, because the price of the cartridges bites. We have to invent how to save on printing.

    Previously, for this purpose, an artisanal system with continuous ink supply (CISS) was usually purchased. Such a system is a special cartridge, to which ink tanks located outside the housing are connected by thin tubes. The cartridge uses special chips to deceive the printer, so that it will always assume that the cartridge has ink.

    Advantages of CISS:
    Aa significant reduction in the cost of printing compared to cartridges (in some cases up to 50 times);
    in theory, the system creates a stable pressure on the print head of the printer, which ensures a stable image quality;
    increase the productivity of the printer: do not waste time on frequent replacement of cartridges, you can print without stopping.

    Disadvantages of CISS:
    Handle the system carefully, especially when moving the printer to another location, since ink from the tanks can spill;
    servicing a printer with CISS is more difficult than normal;
    it is possible to get air into the print head, as well as its quick and fatal clogging with low-quality ink;
    loss of warranty on the printer.

    Using CISS from handicraft manufacturers reduces the cost of ink cartridges, but makes you nervous when you install it in the printer, while setting up and calibrating, but most importantly - because of fears, irreparably damage the print head of the printer with non-native ink. Therefore, the stingy must pay, and not even twice - at least nerves, loss of warranty and risk of damage to the printer.

    However, not so long ago (by the standards of the printing market) there were also civilized ways of significant saving on photo printing. At the end of 2011, Epson was the first company to stop propaganda against artisanal CISS and ink from third-party manufacturers. She solved the problem radically, releasing her first printer without cartridges and calling it the "Printing Factory." The main advantage of this solution was the low cost of printing, so desired by all photographers. But now it has become branded! Admittedly, for Epson, entering the market with this bold decision was a success. The first "Factory" - Epson L800 - became a hit and is still on sale. But let's get acquainted with the "Printing Factory" in the person of the new photo printer that came to replace the L200 - Epson L220, who already managed to receive the "Product of the Year" award.

    Well, let's begin. For me, this is the first acquaintance with the printers of the family "Epson Printing Factory", so I want to personally check everything thoroughly. Packaged for sale device on the conscience, everything is pretty nice and neat. In addition to the printer, the kit includes six ink containers, a CD / DVD tray, a CD with software and drivers for Windows (drivers for Mac OS X are downloaded separately from the site), several instructions on paper and a power cable. But there was no USB cable.

    The lack of a USB cable in modern devices is not a drawback, but rather a reflection of the tendency to get rid of unnecessary wires by leading manufacturers by wirelessly connecting devices via Wi-Fi. But if you suddenly find it more convenient for someone to connect the printer to your computer via a USB cable, you will have to purchase it separately. But the previous model L200 was connected only in this way.

    In size, the Epson L220 printer is optimal for placement on the table - it is not too large: about 55 cm in length, 29 in depth and 18 in height. The block with ink adds a few centimeters to the length and gives the printer some kind of monumentality, but it does not seem huge. The unit is not fixed firmly on the case and is conveniently removed for refueling, so you do not need to grab for it when transferring the printer. I note that its design eliminates the spill of ink when moving the device, since each ink tank is tightly closed with a rubber cap.

    The printer looks beautiful and harmonious - black color, rounded edges. The design is dominated by a matte plastic, and it's good - fewer fingerprints remain on the surface.

    There are five transparent backlit non-touch buttons on the front panel to turn on the power, configure the wireless network, print a test sheet, clean the print head and reset the print queue - all at your fingertips. The printer does not have any LCD screen - it completely replaces the screen of a PC or mobile device. On the rear wall of the case is a folding feeder tray with drawers and a restraining bar for adjusting to different paper sizes. It accommodates up to 120 sheets of A4 paper with a density of 80 g / m². Photo paper will fit, of course, less, because its amount will depend on the density. In front there is a hinged cover with a second tray, which for paper carriers is receiving, and for compact discs - feeding.

    Filling ink
    Inks for Epson L805 are available in plastic container-bottles of 70 ml. Inks are water-soluble, in six colors. The manufacturer claims that it is possible to print up to 1800 photos in the format of 10x15 cm.

    The process of refueling is not at all complicated: We remove the block with ink tanks and throw back the side cover; on the bottle cap we break off the tip, which can then be used as a cap;
    opening the containers in turn, fill in the ink from the bottles of the corresponding colors;
    if the ink remains in the bottle, close it with a cap and remove it until the next refueling.
    Thus, refilling ink tanks can be made, not allowing their complete emptying, which is very convenient! The main thing in this business was - do not mix the colors and shed ink past the container. However, pour the ink where the marking on the hinged cover of the unit with the containers should be helped.

    I note that in the printer Epson L220, unlike the earlier models of the family, including the L200, it is no longer necessary to enter codes from the containers. But on the bottles with ink they still remained - apparently, for refueling earlier models of printers. Previously, this operation was some kind of protection against the use of low-quality ink from third-party manufacturers. Now Epson refuses such protection, which greatly simplified the filling process.
